MY CLASS, MY RESPONSIBILITY

TEACHER IN CHARGE: Ms. USHA MALAYAPPAN, PGT (ECONOMICS)

GENESIS:

In the present scenario, the students are drifting away from the values and tradition that they have to imbibe as the future citizens of a nation rich in tradition and culture. The need to make the students self-disciplined and self-reliant in all the walks of life was felt. A plan was chalked out, covering almost all the aspects related to student life. This Project was put into action in the previous Academic Session (2014-15) and has been continued in this Session also.

OBJECTIVES:

To mould self-reliant and self-disciplined citizens for the future in terms of

  • turn out to school
  • regular attendance at school
  • decorum and discipline in the classroom
  • proper maintenance of classrooms and the school environs
  • punctuality in the completion of work given
  • using the School Library in the best manner possible
  • presenting the best Assembly programme
  • displaying Yoga in the best manner possible
  • punctilious use of Computer lab and other labs

EXECUTION:

The Class teachers and the students were briefed about the modus operandi of the Project at the Staff Meeting and the Morning assembly respectively.
A set of nine certificates related to the nine points cited in the objectives is given to each Class Teacher at the Primary and Secondary Levels. The performance of the class as a whole in the respective areas is monitored by the Class Teacher/Librarian/Computer Teachers/ Judges appointed for the purpose (from among the teachers/ Yoga Teacher. As and when a class is noticed to have fulfilled the criteria of assessment of the aforesaid points, the Teacher in Charge is notified and the Certificate of Appreciation for the particular area is handed over to the respective Class Monitors and the Class Teacher in the Morning Assembly. The Certificates are displayed in a frame, which is put up on the wall of each classroom.

FOLLOW UP:

A lot of improvement has been noticed in the general attitude of the children especially in terms of cleanliness, turn out and attendance. In fact, the Annual Inspection Team headed by the Hon. Assistant Commissioner, Ms. Meenakshy, commented on the turnout and the attendance of the students.

FUTURE COURSE OF ACTION:

Due to the positive response to the Project from all corners, the same will continue for the coming Academic session also.
